Domestic & Household Staff Group Health Insurance Guaranteed-Issue in California
For those California employer-households who want to provide small group insurance benefits to their domestic staff, Anthem Blue Cross (CA) now allows these plans. Anthem is currently the only carrier in California that allows domestic servant/staff coverage.
The rules are similar to any employer group, with the exception being that the employer/household may not participate in the group plan. It must be in place only for the domestic staff.
Domestic staff must be W-2 employees and listed on a DE-6 quarterly tax/wage report.
